Cool at the Purple Beech

It will be very hot and humid this July day, but it is cool at the Mount Auburn Cemetery Purple-Leaf Beech….

Have you ever spent any time under the canopy of a beech? I use to climb a large beech at the top of a nearby hill as a kid. It was such a kind tree to climb as the bark is quite smooth and the branches well spaced and so strong. A certain hush is heard atop trees what with the sound below…. I snapped this photo a few years ago on a hot sunny day and it was cool, like being at the beach, resting underneath….
